Geoffrey Mosiria Rescues Nairobi Man Living on Top of a Tree Along Jogoo Road

A man who had been living on top of a tree along Jogoo Road has finally received life-changing support, thanks to Nairobi County’s Chief Environment Officer, Geoffrey Mosiria.

The man’s unusual living arrangement, which went viral earlier this week, showed him perched in a makeshift treehouse. The bent tree he called home not only stunned passersby but also drew widespread attention online.

In a statement on his X account on Saturday, September 13, 2025, Mosiria confirmed that he had kept his word to help the man, popularly referred to as the “Landlord of the Avoidable House”.

He said he was touched by the plight of the man after his unusual living conditions sparked public debate online.

New start offered

Mosiria said he purchased a mkokoteni to help the man earn a living by collecting recyclables and keeping the environment clean.

He also pledged to assist in registering a Community-Based Organisation (CBO) together with the man’s friends to ensure they build a sustainable income stream.

“As promised, today I returned to visit our friend, the landlord of the ‘Avoidable House’ along Jogoo Road, to support him in finding a better path in life, just as many of you had encouraged me to do,” Mosiria stated.

Beyond business support, Mosiria revealed that he had secured a better house for the man within the Jogoo Road area and paid three months’ rent in advance.

This, he explained, was to give the man enough time to stabilise financially without the fear of immediate eviction.

“I will continue walking with him on this new journey until he becomes fully stable and independent,” Mosiria added.

The county’s environment officer further thanked Kenyans who had raised concerns over the man’s condition and encouraged him to intervene.

He assured them that the case is now on the right track, promising continued mentorship.

“To everyone who expressed concern about Ras’s situation and reached out to me, thank you. Everything is now on the right track,” Mosiria stated
