Actor and influencer Awinja Nyamwalo was recently featured on the Net Walking podcast, hosted by fellow former Papa Shirandula star Wilbroda (Jacky Vike).
The podcast, streamed on YouTube, is a unique concept where the host and guest take a walk while networking and having deep conversations.
In the episode, Awinja opened up about how she consistently lands brand endorsements—something many aspiring influencers hope to achieve. She is currently working with several major brands, including:

Awinja broke it down simply:
“There are only two ways to make this possible, and they’re easy steps,” she said.
She explained that there are two types of people: those with well-known personal brands and those whose presence is still growing.
However, she was quick to add that either group can land endorsements—it’s not just about fame.
“If you’re already known, a brand may approach you after seeing what you do. But for a brand to choose you, there are certain things you must understand,” she said.
1. Stay Away from Controversy
Brands are wary of associating with individuals who attract negative publicity.
“You have to avoid bad energy on social media. Always stay positive and steer clear of drama,” Awinja emphasized.
“Many brands have cut ties with celebrities simply because they were involved in scandals.”
2. Be Consistent
Out of sight, out of mind. Awinja stressed the importance of regular content creation.
She revealed that her dedication to consistent uploads has helped her grow her online presence to over 1.6 million Facebook followers and 1.1 million on Instagram.
For individuals who are not yet well-known, Awinja advised a proactive approach.
“You have to approach the brand yourself. Introduce yourself and showcase your work. Mimi pia hujituma—I still send emails to many brands and just wait for their response,” she shared.
