Rapudo Breaks Silence: The Real Reason Amber Ray Ditched Oga Obinna's Music Video

Socialite Amber Ray's bae, Kennedy Rapudo, has finally broken his silence regarding the recent controversy surrounding his wife's decision not to feature as a vixen in Oga Obinna's music video.
Emerging from an extended social media break, Rapudo released a candid and pointed statement to clarify what he calls a deeply personal issue that should never have become public.
The dispute reportedly stems from remarks made by comedian and media personality Obinna, whom Rapudo described as a "very good friend and a brother."
Obinna had allegedly implied that Amber behaved unprofessionally during a music video shoot—a claim Rapudo says is both misleading and unfair.
According to Rapudo, the incident occurred over a year ago and was resolved at the time, making its sudden resurfacing troubling.
“Even if my wife drinks wine or alcohol, I don’t have a problem with that. That particular day, I was present. Yes, she was high. Yes, she was late. But she called you and informed you she was running late,” Rapudo stated, addressing Obinna directly.

Rapudo firmly denied that his wife acted inappropriately at any point during the shoot. Challenging Obinna to provide any video evidence of the alleged misbehaviour, Rapudo even pledged to issue a public apology if such proof emerged.
He defended Amber's character, saying she takes her professional commitments seriously and always upholds high standards.
He then shed light on what he believes was the root of the issue: creative differences. Rapudo recounted how a production assistant named Victor approached him after noticing Amber’s discomfort with the artistic direction of the shoot.
When he spoke to his wife, she expressed concern about the overly romantic tone Obinna had in mind for the video.
“When I came to the stage, I saw my wife. She wasn’t happy. I asked her, ‘Baby, what’s going on? Are you okay?’ She said, ‘No.’ She explained that you wanted the video to be overly romantic—with holding, grinding, and being touchy—and she wasn’t comfortable with that,” Rapudo recounted.
Amber reportedly told him that Obinna was being overly controlling on set—a manner she found inappropriate and misaligned with her brand.
Respecting her feelings, the couple left the set. Later, Amber communicated her decision to her manager, who then messaged Obinna, asking him to scrap the video, citing her unwillingness to be associated with the project.

Rapudo concluded by stressing that such issues should be handled privately between adults, not paraded online for attention or clout.
He called for mutual respect and a commitment to peace, particularly among individuals pursuing their respective hustles.
The drama initially ignited after Obinna discussed the incident during his comedy show My Mistakes, expressing disappointment over Amber’s refusal to be part of his music video.
He claimed that their relationship has never been the same since.
“I wouldn't say there’s beef between me, Amber Ray, or Rapudo. But when I was shooting the video for Kado, Amber was meant to be the main love interest. We agreed on a fee. On the day of the shoot, they came late and were tipsy. When we started filming, she didn’t want me to dance with her,” Obinna stated.

Amber responded via Instagram Stories, strongly refuting Obinna’s claims. She insisted she was never paid for the role and only agreed to appear as a favour.
“I was not paid. Obinna personally asked me for a favour to appear in one scene in his video, and I agreed. Out of goodwill, he later said he’d send KSh 40,000 for fuel—which he never did,” she wrote.
