Public outrage has erupted after a female content creator, known as Bella Comedy, was violently assaulted during the Kutiit Culture Show at the Carnivore Restaurant.
The incident, which has gone viral, has cast an unflattering spotlight on gender-based violence (GBV) within the Kalenjin entertainment industry.
An 18-second video of the incident, now widely circulated online, shows Bella on her knees as she is physically attacked by a man identified as Motiriot Kipkosgei, also known as Pavilion Kipkosgei or Pavilion Lounge, a well-known Kalenjin music producer and artist manager.
Another unidentified man is seen joining in the assault.
Amid the chaos, a woman’s voice can be heard in the background, pleading with bystanders in Swahili, “Mbona mnaachilia dame achapwe?” (Why are you standing by as the lady is being beaten?).
In a follow-up video after the incident, Bella dismissed speculation that the altercation was staged for content creation. Instead, she questioned why Kipkosgei resorted to violence rather than reporting her to the police over any grievances.
“Why did you beat me whereas I am not the only one who spoilt your name? I only talk about sex; that is my kind of content creation,” she said.
Bella claimed she was kicked in the abdomen during the assault.
“I have been hurt. I am glad that I have one child because I was kicked in the belly. I believe my uterus is no more,” she lamented, breaking down as she spoke about the loss of her late mother, who she said would have been her only source of comfort.
A review of her TikTok page suggests the attack may have been linked to her earlier claims that Kipkosgei had fathered a child with the wife of a Kalenjin secular musician he works with — allegations she based on what she described as a strong physical resemblance between Kipkosgei and the child.
Kipkosgei alleged that the confrontation began when Bella slapped him, triggering the violent exchange.
Probox, the organiser of the Kutiit Culture Show, condemned the assault in a statement, affirming that the event is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all attendees.
“We are fully willing to cooperate and assist in any investigations,” the statement read, adding that they would support any formal inquiry by authorities.

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has since weighed in on the matter, urging Kipkosgei to present himself to the police.
The assault adds to a troubling pattern of gender-based violence incidents within the Kalenjin entertainment scene.
Recently, Vicky Brilliance went online accusing her partner of violence. They later reconciled, buried their differences, and have since been seen together attending functions.
