The new outpatient medical centre, known as the Rhapta Medical Centre, is located at the Promenade Building along Rhapta Road in Westlands.
The clinic provides a comprehensive range of general and specialist services, including Obstetrics & Gynaecology, ENT, Paediatrics, Well-baby Clinic, Counselling Psychology, Vaccination, Nutrition & Weight Loss, and Family Medicine Clinic, among others. It also offers wellness programmes.
According to Dr Jyoti Bhayani, Head of Outreach Health at the Aga Khan University Hospital, the goal is to bring care closer to the people, right to their doorsteps.
“A lot of people often have to travel long distances to seek healthcare, and that is why Aga Khan Hospital is moving closer to the people,” says Dr Jyoti.
The opening of the Rhapta Outreach Medical Centre aligns with the hospital’s strategic goal of expanding access to quality care.
The clinic is supported by on-site ultrasound services, a well-equipped laboratory, and pharmacy services.
“Aga Khan has made deliberate efforts to ensure that the quality of medical care one receives at the main hospital cuts across all our medical centres,” adds Dr Jyoti.
The decision to open this new outpatient facility was informed by the growing demand for specialised services in the area.
Dr Jyoti notes that people seeking healthcare no longer need to spend a lot of money on transport, or time in traffic or searching for parking at the main facility. By opening clinics like Rhapta, Aga Khan is easing these challenges and bringing care closer to the people.
This move, she says, aligns with Aga Khan University Hospital’s core values of impact, quality, relevance, and access in the provision of healthcare.
Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi, currently operates 50 medical centres in Kenya and 4 in Uganda. It also offers a mobile collection of laboratory samples (blood, urine, and stool), home delivery of medication, and home care services.
The hospital is intentionally creating access through quality and affordable care while ensuring convenience and efficiency in service delivery.
