Nevnina Onyango Omondi, the wife of the late Albert Omondi Ojwang, delivered a poignant eulogy today at a requiem mass held at Ridgeways Baptist Church along Kiambu Road, Nairobi.
The mass which commenced at 10:00 AM, brought together people from various Kenyan backgrounds to mourn the passing of Albert Ojwang.
During her emotional address, Nevnina revealed the last conversation she had with her husband, who was identified as a teacher and blogger, while he was in police custody, and appealed for fair treatment of all individuals by authorities.
She believes she was the last person to speak with him while he was at the Central Police Station.
“When we last talked, he was in Central Police station. I think I'm the last person he talked to, and his last words were ‘I love you, see you soon’.”

Nevnina expressed the profound pain of seeing him again lying still.
“Seeing him soon here or even in the mortuary has broken me,” she added amidst sobs.
Despite her grief, she affirmed her resolve to remain strong for their son, who is still too young to comprehend the situation, and for Albert's parents, as well as others who looked up to him.
"He has always told me to be courageous, so I just want to stand strong for the sake of our son, the mom, the dad, and even other people that are not here because most of them looked up to him.”
Nevnina also shared details of how she and Albert met. Their relationship began in 2021 when Albert visited Kisumu. She stated that their friendship grew, and "God blessed us and we became one".
Throughout their time together, Nevnina described Albert as her "best friend" and an "amazing person" who was incredibly encouraging.
She credited him with making her courageous, recalling moments when she felt weak or shy, and he would urge her to "stand out, talk, be very courageous like me".
Nevnina also used her platform to make a direct appeal to law enforcement and those responsible for public welfare. She urged them to treat citizens with equity and fairness as if they were their relatives.
“I'd to like talk to the police and even those people that are in charge of taking care of us. It is not my wish to see anybody or any parent, any wife, any son, any daughter going through whatever we are going through. So I like to urge them to treat everyone like perfectly if even if they are not their relatives, even if they are people that they don't know."

Albert's mother also expressed her profound sorrow, stating that Albert had made her "soul heavy" and acknowledging that her son had brought her to the church.
Nevnina vowed to continue loving Albert's family—his mom, dad, grandma, and uncles—in the same way Albert did.
Following the Nairobi service, the information provided indicates that Ojwang’s body will be transported to Homa Bay County on Thursday, July 3, for burial at his father’s home in Kakwonyo Village on Friday, July 4.
