Alikiba Details New Chapter with Ex-wife Amina After Messy Divorce

The Bongo Flava icon revealed in a recent interview that the former couple have reached an unexpectedly harmonious place in their co-parenting journey.

"I'm in another relationship now, and that chapter is fully closed," Kiba told journalists at a Nairobi press conference.

"Amina and I finalized our divorce peacefully. She's happy, I'm happy - there's absolutely no bad blood between us anymore."

This marks a stunning turnaround from their bitter 2021 split, which played out very publicly in Kenyan courts. The singer's marital breakdown made headlines when Khaleef filed for divorce at Mombasa's Chief Kadhi's Court, demanding KSh200,000 (£1,200) monthly child support for their two children while claiming the marriage had become "irretrievably broken."

A Fairytale Wedding Turned Sour

Their relationship had begun as a modern African fairytale. The power couple tied the knot in April 2018 during two extravagant ceremonies - a secretive dawn nikah at Mombasa's Masjid Ummul mosque (reportedly bankrolled by former Governor Ali Hassan Joho) followed by a televised Dar es Salaam reception that had all of Tanzania talking.

For three years, they appeared to be East Africa's golden couple - until cracks began showing. Court documents revealed Khaleef's frustrations with Kiba's family members living in their Dar es Salaam home and what she described as "constant arguments" that left her feeling "caged" in the marriage.

"I was expected to protect his brand while he did whatever he wanted," Khaleef had alleged during proceedings. By June 2023, she was publicly pressuring Kiba to sign divorce papers, accusing him of stalling and disrespect.

The Art of Avoiding Drama

Known for his smooth vocals and even smoother public image, Kiba addressed the divorce delays with characteristic diplomacy:

"With every problem, it's wise to seek solutions first before extremes. Signing those papers was our solution. I believe if you can't solve something immediately, leave it until you can - without creating unnecessary drama."

This philosophy was put to the test recently when fans noticed Kiba following only one account on Instagram - rumoured new love interest and fashion designer Niffer. When speculation exploded, both parties acted swiftly. Kiba unfollowed Niffer, who later stated: "I'm not involved in their past issues. I focus only on what concerns me and him."

Looking Ahead

"Some artists thrive on controversy - not me," Kiba reflects. "My brand stays clean because my energy goes into the craft. The fans deserve that."

As for co-parenting with Khaleef? "We've both grown. When the children are happy, everyone wins." With over 15 years in the spotlight, Africa's "King of Bongo" seems to have finally mastered the delicate balance between personal life and superstardom.
