Alliance Girls Alumni Demonstrate Over Alleged Sexual Abuse by Teacher

Alliance Girls alumni on Thursday staged demos outside the school over alleged sexual abuse incidents by a male teacher that have taken place for an unknown period.

The teacher is accused of sexually grooming girls at the national school. He is said to have been engaged in affairs with the student. The affairs, according to an investigative article by Africa Uncensored, became intense after the students completed their secondary education.

Parents Teachers Association chairman confirmed that they have constituted a committee comprised of officials from the Ministry of Education, KUPPET and alumni, which has commenced investigations into the sexual abuse. The committee will table a report by the end of next week.

Alumni advocate Zahra Nechesa said they will sue the school management for protecting the suspect since 2011, in protecting reputation of the school.

Kiambu County Director of Education Simon Wanjohi said the Ministry will take necessary actions and investigate the matter, where disciplinary action against the teacher will be applied.

The Parents Teachers Association (PTA) chairman confirmed that an ad hoc committee, which has been formed in collaboration with KUPPET, the Ministry of Education, and the alumni, has launched an investigation into the shocking revelations following an exposé by African Uncensored.

The committee is expected to table a report by the end of next week.

The Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya (FIDA-Kenya) has strongly condemned the alleged sexual abuse, calling for swift and decisive action by both the school and the Ministry of Education.

“These reports are not just shocking, they are heartbreaking,” FIDA-Kenya Chairperson Christine Kungu said.
