'Hoozambe' is currently the most trending song on social media with hundreds of content creators joining in to recreate the song's interesting video.
The song, a freestyle by Ugandan singer D Star, gained popularity due to a few intriguing factor's.
The main one being its vixen's (a lady identified as Shifura) striking huge and seductive eyes that currently have Kenyan men tripping over themselves, the artists use of his mother-tongue, and lastly the video's iconic moment which entails Shifura seating on one of D Star's lap jamming to the beats as he sings along.
Netizens have taken that part and turned it into a viral challenge with couples, colleagues and friends rushing to recreate D Star and Shifura's lap moment.
However, till now most people have no clue what the song means despite it taking over social media with lots of Kenyan celebrities such as Njugush and Cele, Nameless and Wahu, Kabugi and Georgina Njenga just to mention but a few joining in.
For a while, Ugandan's have been gatekeeping the meaning of the song refusing to translate the lyrics despite pleas from netizens. "It's just a love song," some of the replies on TikTok read whenever someone asks what the song means.
One user identified as Basoga Salehe shed a little light noting, "the song has hidden meaning. The lyrics are normal but the meanings are vulgar,"
A Kenyan lady however has come to the rescue explaining the meaning of the song as she cautioned those singing along without understanding what they are saying.
“Many of us have been enjoying and jamming to this song without knowing its true meaning," starts off the lady identified as Adah.
She goes on to break down some parts of the song stating;
"The song tells a story. Shifura, the woman in the song, is married to an older man but is not happy with her marriage. So she decides to find another man that is Hoozambe, whom she attests can satisfy her needs. In the song, Shifura asks Hoozambe if he can keep up with her desires.
Hozambee, goes on to describe how Shifura was too loud during their intimate moments, resulting in him being chased away because it wasn’t safe for her to cheat on her husband. The song contains a lot of vulgar language,”
Finishing us she adds,“It's important that we understand the meaning of the lyrics before we sing along,"
