Stephen Odhiambo, the man who dangerously hung on a helicopter carrying YouTuber Oga Obinna at a wedding ceremony in Migori, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison.
The man, now famously known as 'Migori James Bond', was charged with a disorderly act of endangering the safety and security of those who had boarded the chopper.
While appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Mathias Okuche, the man was sentenced to 18 months in prison or pay a fine of Ksh500,000.
During the court proceedings, Odhiambo pleaded guilty to the charges, prompting the principal magistrate to issue the judgment. The judgment followed his detention for seven days to allow a probe.
Among the witnesses in the case were two police officers. During the hearing of the matter, Odhiambo expressed remorse over the incident and pleaded for leniency.
The judgment followed his arrest almost a fortnight ago by police officers in Migori after a video of him dangling on a chopper went viral on social media platforms.
Uriri OCPD, Enrico Lyomu, while confirming his arrest on April 15, revealed that Odhimabo was apprehended after sneaking back to his house at midnight.
According to Lyomu, during the arrest, the suspect was resistant and tried to escape, but he was handcuffed and escorted to the police station, where he was consequently arraigned.
During preliminary investigations, the helicopter pilot recounted the ordeal, stating that Odhiambo's actions posed an immense threat to his life and that of the five passengers who were on board.

He disclosed that security officers had ordered people to stand at least 10 metres away from the chopper before it departed the area, however, the adamant man insisted on boarding the helicopter. Upon being denied the opportunity, he resorted to hanging on the chopper as it ascended.
The dramatic incident occurred on Sunday, April 13, shortly after popular Ohangla musician Prince Indah's wedding ended in Rapogi village, and visitors were departing.
Moments after the occurrence, Odhiambo was seen bragging about his encounter to a group of villagers as he claimed he was prepared to hang on until Nairobi.
