Nairobi: Daughter Attacks Dad with Chapati Rolling Pin for Arguing with Her Mum

A woman from Clay City in Nairobi’s Kasarani sub-county has denied claims that she stormed her parents’ bedroom and assaulted her father for confronting her mother over family issues.

Esther Wangare Ndwiga was arraigned before Makadara Law Courts on charges of assaulting her 52-year-old father, E.N.K., in an incident said to have taken place on the night of June 19.

According to court documents, the complainant was in his bedroom reading when his wife, son, and daughter were in the living room. At around 10:00 pm, the wife went to her bedroom, prompting the complainant to follow her for a private discussion.

He allegedly raised concerns about his wife secretly visiting one of their daughters without informing him and warned her against making early morning calls to strangers.

What was meant to be a private conversation reportedly took a dramatic turn when Wangare, who was allegedly eavesdropping, barged into the bedroom armed with a chapati rolling stick. She allegedly threatened her father, warning him to stop disturbing her mother.

The father reportedly challenged her to act on her threats. Court papers say Wangare then struck him repeatedly on the head and arms with the roller, as her mother allegedly joined in by grabbing him by the waist.

As he struggled to free himself, he allegedly pulled his wife’s hair, prompting both women to scream and hurl insults. Their son, who was in his room, rushed to intervene.

Wangare allegedly went on to hurl stones at her father's vehicle, smashing both the front and rear windscreens. The complainant later reported the matter at a police station.

She was released on a cash bail of Sh30,000 pending mention of the case in July for pre-trial.
