Nairobi: Man Killed in Fight Over Woman in a Lodging in Kamukunji

Police have launched investigations after a 25-year-old man died following a fight at a lodging in Kamukunji, Nairobi on Saturday morning.

Police said Barnabas Oketch had gone to meet his girlfriend at a hotel along Duruma Road when he found her with another man. 

 

Oketch confronted the other man, who assaulted him on the head, leaving him with serious injuries.

Security guards rushed to the scene and moved him to the reception waiting room, where he died after a short time.

 

Meanwhile, the assailant escaped after committing the crime as police launched a manhunt to ensure his arrest.

Police confirmed that the body of the victim had swelling on his head.

 

The woman at the centre of the altercation was arrested as part of the investigations, while the body was taken to the mortuary for post-mortem.

Elsewhere in Gachoka, Embu County, 70-year-old Danson Maringa was found dead by the roadside about 20 metres from his house. His throat had been slit, and he had four deep cuts at the back of his head.

Witnesses said Maringa had been at a local bar and was returning home when he was attacked by unknown assailants on 13 September.

His body was discovered lying in a pool of blood near his home. Police said they are pursuing the killers and moved the body to the mortuary for autopsy.

 

In Siaya County, a man identified as Julius Odhiambo was lynched by a mob in Ratado, Ugenya. Odhiambo, accused of being behind a murder in the Ugunja area, was traced to Ratado, where residents stoned him to death.

His body was later taken to the mortuary. Police condemned the killing, warning residents against taking the law into their own hands.
