ODM Youth Leader Kasmuel McOure accuses Edwin Sifuna of Double Speak over Broadbased Alliance Between UDA And ODM

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party youth leader Kasmuel McOure has scoffed at the faction’s Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, accusing him of double speak and contradicting the broad-based political arrangement between ODM and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
According to McOure, the agreement was made in the interest of national unity and stability, which the late Prime Minister Raila Odinga signed with President William Ruto, and leaders led by Sifuna should not change their tone.
In an X post on Sunday, November 2, 2025, McOure urged ODM leaders and members to stand by the party’s decision to join the broad-based arrangement, saying it was made in the country’s best interest. He said the deal involved coordinated political cooperation through negotiations on electoral zones and mutual regional support.
“Elected members of ODM must not engage in political chicanery. The party entered the broad-based arrangement for the sake of the country. You pushed for this arrangement in boardrooms; you must not now pretend to oppose it when you face the people,” he said.
“While it is important to strengthen our party, we must also uphold the values that make us ODM: bravery, integrity, and decisiveness in the face of political storms.”
McOure said these discussions were conducted openly at the leadership level and should not be denied now that the country is in the implementation phase.
Moreover, he maintained that the cooperation agreement involved fielding and supporting candidates from both ODM and UDA, and in some cases, asking aspirants to step down to maintain unity.

He urged members to avoid using differing internal positions to create confusion among supporters, saying the arrangement had been reached at the highest levels of the party and should be respected.
“I have heard you and a few elected leaders claim there is no such thing as a Broad-Based candidate. Yet, it is an open secret that both ODM and UDA sat down and negotiated zones in a spirit of political goodwill, even asking certain candidates to step down in specific regions and declaring mutual support as part of a broader effort toward national healing,” he wrote.
“We shall not allow the words of our party’s spokesperson to be weaponised verbatim by our opponents against our party and its candidates. No one tried to sabotage your election. Don’t do it to others.”
He further scoffed at Sifuna, saying it is disingenuous to feign ignorance of this arrangement while uttering faux-democratic statements to the masses and singing a different tune behind closed doors.
“We entered this agreement despite his reservations because Kenya was bigger. If you respect our Party Leader, set aside personal interests and serve the people. Hufai kuyavulia maji nguo kisha usiyakoge,” he said.
“You signed that document alongside Baba. His word, not your feelings, carries. The honourable thing is to ensure his people get justice within the framework he left behind. When campaign season arrives, you may go your own way. But for now, let us focus on service and integrity. I will continue to speak on these matters, regardless of pressure from your circles.”
