Five people have been shot dead in the Angata Barikoi area in Kilgoris, Narok County, over what reports suggest is a bitter feud over 6300 acres of land.
Reports indicate that the individuals killed on Monday afternoon were protesting the alleged grabbing of contested land.
Further reports suggest that the land in question belongs to a powerful politician from the region.
Videos and images obtained by TSM depicted gunshots ringing out as residents fled to escape the officers.
The residents, including women, could be heard crying and shouting, calling out the General Service Unit officers for being responsible for the shooting.
Narok Senator Ledama Olekina confirmed the incident, expressing his fears over the killing of the five.
Olekina promised to visit the Angata Barikoi area as soon as possible to gain a better understanding of the situation.
Furthermore, the Senator, known for his hard stance on communal land, insisted that he would not stand and watch the land being taken from the locals.
"I am deeply saddened by the reported news of the killings in Angata Barikoi. My heartfelt condolences to all affected. I want to assure you that no one can take your land from you," Olekina stated.

''As your Senator, I stand firmly with you in this difficult time. I will visit the area soon to gain a better understanding of the situation and offer my support. Once again, my sincere condolences."
The residents of Angata Barikoi had earlier demonstrated in March this year over the intention of the accused leader to grab their piece of land.
However, TSM, could not immediately and independently verify the true ownership of the contested piece of land.
Additionally, neither the police nor the local administration had provided an update on the events that led to the standoff and the shooting of the five individuals by the time of publishing this story was published.
