
Government disburses 2 billion to over 1 million Inua Jamii beneficiaries

The government, through the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, has announced the disbursement of Ksh.2,089,844,000 to beneficiaries of the Inua Jamii programme,
Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore revealed that the cash was released on Friday, alongside a further Ksh.5,930,000 for the Nutrition Improvement through Cash and Health Education (NICHE) complimentary programme.
CS Bore stated that the Inua Jamii cash was credited to the accounts of 1,044,922 beneficiaries, with each expected to receive Ksh.2,000 for December 2023 payment, starting Tuesday.
“Following the presidential directive, Inua Jamii beneficiaries will be receiving their stipends through Mpesa Platform. Orphans and Vulnerable Children beneficiaries Cash Transfer (OVC-CT) and Persons with Severe Disabilities beneficiaries Cash Transfer (PwSD-CT) caregivers are required to enroll for Mpesa payments by dialing *222# using their registered Mpesa phone numbers,” she stated.
“The first phase of Mpesa payments commences for OVC-CT and PwSD- CT. Older Persons Cash Transfer (OP-CT) beneficiaries will continue to receive their funds through their bank accounts as usual.”
