Justin Muturi, the former Cabinet Secretary of Public Service, on Monday, September 15, 2025, praised former and retired President His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta, saying that he is such a nice leader.
Speaking to Kameme TV’s Gatonye Wa Mbugua at his Kilimani home in Nairobi, Muturi clarified that he has no differences with the retired President and that in the 2022 poll, what happened was normal and not personal.
Muturi went on to recount how lately they were laughing with his political friends, including Gachagua, comparing Uhuru’s 2022 candidate, Raila and theirs, William Ruto.
“Let me say that we have never had any major differences with Uhuru. In 2022, we differed on the choice of Raila Odinga’s candidacy, but I didn’t take offence because I also made my own decision.

“Lately, we were laughing with my friends that Uhuru Kenyatta presented to us a hyena without teeth, but for me and Gachagua, we went for a hyena with teeth.
“Uhuru, I still consider him a good leader. In 2027, we can never ignore his role completely because, as you know, a retired president’s advice is sought again and again.”
Speaking further, the former CS reflected on his political experience and lessons learned from the 2022 election.
He emphasised that personal respect and loyalty to national leaders are essential for unity and long-term stability in Kenya.
Muturi’s praise of Uhuru comes amid ongoing debates about the leadership styles of President William Ruto and opposition figures.

Muturi accuses Ruto of aiding Gen Z abductions
Towards the end of the interview, Muturi shifted focus to national security concerns.
In his message, Muturi claimed that President William Ruto, alongside the Director-General of the National Intelligence Service and Anti-Terror Police Unit chief Said Kiprotich, orchestrated the abduction of several Gen Zs in late 2024 and early 2025.

Muturi was also blunt, asserting that all the kidnappings occurred under President Ruto’s watch and with his full knowledge.

For example, he shared his personal ordeal involving the abduction of his son, Leslie Muturi, to highlight the depth of the operations and identify who was truly in charge.
“When I tried to call everywhere, including Kindiki, and told him to tell Noordin Haji to release my son and was told he was not the one having him.
“I also realised that the former Police IG Koome knew nothing. That mzee was in the dark. Everything was being conducted by ATPU boss Said Kiprotich, Noordin Haji, and William Ruto,” Muturi told Kameme TV.
