Justin Muturi: Ruto is So Desperate For Attention He Might Film Himself Cleaning Toilets

Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi, on Monday, September 15, 2025, mocked his former boss, President William Ruto, saying that Kenyans would not be shocked if he were filmed cleaning toilets.

Speaking to Kameme TV, Muturi revealed that the Head of State, instead of focusing on his mandate, seems more excited by symbolic actions like signing bills or performing tasks that add little value.

He expressed disappointment over the ongoing controversy surrounding the custody of the public seal, traditionally the responsibility of the Attorney General.

Public seal controversy

“Office of the Attorney General Act, chapter 6A, section 28 says the Attorney General shall be the custodian of the public seal, and that act has never been amended.

“When they saw that Parliament opposed the idea of the President holding it, they feared. But now I know that they are the ones having it. Currently, the public seal is with Felix Kosgei,” Muturi said.

He accused President Ruto of bypassing legal norms and undermining the rule of law, describing the leadership as rogue and dismissive of tradition.

“It is not the work of the President; the public seal is traditionally used by the Attorney General. But because these are robbers, they don’t like to follow the law,” he added.

Muturi calls out Ruto

Muturi further ridiculed the President for seeking public attention through superficial gestures rather than delivering on critical governance priorities.

“Plus, Ruto likes drama, being photographed doing things. And maybe next time we will see him cleaning the toilets so that Kenyans can see that he is working hard.

“He likes things that do not add value,” Muturi said, underscoring a pattern of performative politics that he claims distracts from pressing national issues.

Muturi’s statements come amid growing scrutiny over executive overreach, with critics calling for strict enforcement of legal provisions and respect for institutional roles in line with Kenya’s Constitution. Also, there have been concerns about whether Ruto still maintains the presidential aura that he is supposed to exhibit by the position he occupies.

The command-in-chief has been holding economic empowerment events where attendees walk into the State House or a preferred venue and walk out having eaten and received cash, exemplifying the politics of handouts.
