Shock as Harmonize Calls Off Dodoma Concert Amid Mounting Pressure on Pro-Suluhu Artistes

Bongo Flava sensation Harmonize has postponed his much-anticipated Dodoma concert as tension continues to hang like a heavy cloud over the Swahili-speaking nation, following days of nationwide protests linked to the country’s general elections.
In a statement shared by his music label, Konde Gang, on its official Instagram page on Thursday, November 6, 2025, the group confirmed that the event would not proceed as initially planned.
The performance had been scheduled for Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Talatala Lounge, located along Uhindini Street in the capital, Dodoma.
In the promotional poster they shared, the group expressed uncertainty about how the show would be received in light of the ongoing national unrest.
They noted that the atmosphere was still tense and unpredictable, admitting that their primary focus at the moment was on the nation’s healing rather than entertainment.
Konde Gang further mentioned that they were praying for peace to return to Tanzania,
“Show postponed. Prayers up for peace and healing,” the group posted, accompanying the statement with heart and Tanzanian flag emojis.
This development unfolds against the backdrop of a deepening standoff between Tanzanian artistes and their audiences, following an unprecedented wave of online outrage targeting musicians seen to have supported President Samia Suluhu Hassan during the recently concluded elections.
The situation began escalating last week when celebrated singer Diamond Platnumz deleted all Instagram posts in which he had publicly praised President Suluhu.
The move came on Thursday, October 30, 2025, just a day after he posted a glowing tribute to the Head of State as the general elections commenced on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
His message, which described Suluhu as a wise and diligent leader who had propelled development in education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure, triggered a fierce backlash from citizens who accused him of siding with power at a time when Tanzanians were mourning the loss of lives during violent protests.

By that Thursday night, Diamond had bowed to pressure and purged all posts showing support for President Suluhu after thousands of fans flooded his page with angry comments and threats to boycott his music and his record label, Wasafi.
The protests, which had begun as calls for electoral fairness, spilled into social media, where furious Tanzanians accused artistes of using their fame to sanitise political wrongdoing.
In the days that followed, other artistes such as Nandy, Rayvanny, Zuchu, and Lava Lava were compelled to issue emotional statements calling for calm and national unity. Many expressed sorrow over the lives lost and prayed for Tanzania’s peace to be restored.
