Actress Dorea Chege has shared how she ended up delivering via CS.
Like most mum's Dorea had expected a natural birth but things did not go her way.
Speaking on her YouTube channel, she shared
"I had listened to people a lot, so I was scared by the time I got to the hospital.
I laboured for 14 hours, but I was still dilated 4 cms.
I remember the nurse telling me that by the time I got to 6cm, the pain would be worse."
Her partner, DJ Dibu,l added that despite being induced, the labour did not progress.
"We tried labor and the cervix was not opening. At the time she was induced."
Dorea recently came out to defend herself after harsh criticism for having a night nurse helping her care for her daughter, Shiku.
Online critics, particularly older women with children—questioned whether Dorea finds time to bond with her one-month-old daughter if someone else is caring for her at night.
Many urged the new mum to consider the importance of nightly breastfeeding and being physically present during a baby’s early developmental stages.
In response to the backlash, Dorea calmly but firmly reminded netizens that she knows what’s best for her child.
“Things have been made easier for new mums and mums-to-be,” she said. “People were asking, ‘If you have a night nurse, when do you bond with your baby?’ I have the whole day for that. The night nurse comes from 8 PM to 6 AM. She takes care of the baby, and as a mum, I get to rest.”
Dorea explained that she spends quality time with her daughter during the day, allowing her to be more present and emotionally available, rather than overwhelmed and exhausted.
She added that the night nurse brings the baby to her for breastfeeding when necessary, and once she’s done, the baby is returned to the nurse for care.
“There’s no medal or prize for suffering. If I’ve done it, you can too. Normalize luxury.” She emphasized
Dorea highlighted that times have changed and modern motherhood can, and should, include support systems that promote well-being for both mother and child.

“For now, I’m not expressing milk. I’m exclusively breastfeeding. When the baby cries at night, the nurse brings her, I breastfeed, and then I go back to rest. That’s baby girl treatment,” she added with a smile.
Dorea and her fiancé, DJ Dibul, welcomed their baby girl in the first week of March. Announcing her birth with a heartfelt post from her hospital bed, Dorea reflected on her emotional journey to motherhood.
“I fought for you, I prayed for you, I yearned for you. And now, holding you in my arms, I realize that all the sacrifices, all the struggles, were worth every single moment. Welcome to the world, our precious princess 👸💕”
