Kenyan singer and entrepreneur Akothee has opened up about her personal experience with a former billionaire partner while expressing empathy for Nigerian actress Regina Daniels.
In a heartfelt message shared on her Instagram, Akothee revealed that she was once sued by her ex-partner after ending their relationship — a situation she compared to Regina’s ongoing legal battle.
Akothee’s Painful Revelation
Akothee said that she was sued by her billionaire partner after she ended their relationship in 2017.
According to her, the lawsuit came in 2019 when he realised she was not going back to him.
"I was sued by my billionaire partner for not taking orders. i dumped him in 2017. he sued me in 2019 when he realised i am not coming back to him."
"We are still in court, i attend sermons, write defences, send my lawyers, in short i am still under emotional arrest," she wrote.
She stated that the case is still in court, explaining that she continues to attend sermons, write defences, and send her lawyers to handle the matter on her behalf.
The singer described the experience as one that left her “under emotional arrest,” noting that it has taken a toll on her emotionally and mentally.
She said her story mirrors what many women go through in silence, especially when walking away from powerful relationships.
Message of Empathy for Regina Daniels
Using her own experience as an example, Akothee expressed sympathy toward Regina Daniels, saying she could relate to the pain the actress and her mother might be experiencing.
She described how difficult it is for a mother to watch her child go through challenges she wishes she could protect them from.
"My heart goes out not only to Regina Daniels but also to her mother. From where I sit, I can almost feel labour pains all over again ,the kind that come from watching your child go through something you wish you could protect them from," she wrote.
Akothee said that as a public figure, she understands the struggles of dealing with pain under the constant eye of the public.

She emphasised that celebrities also bleed and struggle but often cannot show their pain because it gets used against them.
Call for Compassion and Strength
In her message, Akothee urged the public to stop judging Regina Daniels and her mother, saying no parent would willingly watch their child suffer.
She added that mothers can only pray, guide, and hope their children make the right choices.
"Let’s show some empathy," she added.
Akothee ended her message by encouraging Regina not to return to her past relationship, describing it as a “mess too messy.”
She urged the actress to stay strong and find healing through prayer and courage.
